Any Day Now!

Man, this is frustrating. Braxton Hicks contractions or real contractions, which are they? To me they ALL REAL!! Every time Monica has a contraction I'm on the edge of the seat ready to grab the bags and go to the hospital. I know it could still be a week or two away, but man it gets me excited. Monica was even keeping the fact that she was having them from me for a while! She knew how crazy I would get.

I'm thinking it could happen this week sometime, although the chances that we make the induction date of Oct. 29th are pretty good. Most first time mothers go past the due date (Oct. 20).

I've been talking to Tyler asking him to come out and play. He hasn't listened yet, hopefully this isn't a sign of things to come! The dogs won't leave Monica's side. They are being very protective of her. It's very cute.

I think that's it for now. Today is Friday so hopefully we'll have a very exciting weekend!

Talk to you all soon!

Parenthood Fast Approaching!!

Well, we're 19 days out, but things could happen sooner than we thought. Monica had another check-up today and the doctor said she could possibly give birth as soon as this weekend! Wow! She estimated the baby's weight at about 7lbs right now. Monica is hoping that doesn't go up too much before birth!

We had our birthing classes this past weekend! That was very educational and also interesting to be in a room with about 12 other couples that were pregnant as well. I laughed during the breathing exercises, because I wasn't sure what good this would do while being passed out on the floor! I'm going to have to wear my hockey gear so I don't get hurt from the multiple fainting spells! I'll just tape the video camera to my helmet and hope to catch as much as possible.

I think we're ready. I'm not sure if anyone really is ready for something like this, but I guess we have no choice anymore! Nah, we're VERY excited and can't wait for everything to happen.

That's all for now!

3 weeks and counting!

Well, we have about 3 1/2 weeks left, give or take a week or two of course. Things are rolling right along. Monica just had her last shower. As we were checking out the haul of goods I said, "We're gonna need a bigger nursery!" Friends and family did not disappoint! After making the calculations I figure Tyler will have to wear a new outfit every 4.35 seconds just to get through everything!

I spent last night watching the Cowboys demolish the Bears by assembling the stroller and pack and play. My how have my football watching rituals changed! OUT are the beer and wings, IN are the strollers and pack in plays! Isn't life just grand!

You can see the photos here.

Also, Monica had another appointment today, 9/24. Dr. said everything looks PERFECT! That's what we like to hear. They're now thinking the baby may be around 7 - 7.5 pounds when born. We'll know soon enough!

Only 45 Days to go!

Well, we're getting down to the wire. The house is ready, the dogs are ready (not really), and we're ready (I think!). Here's a link to the photos of the nursery. We got that finished up over the holiday weekend. Now we just need to add a baby!

Monica is hanging in there. There are times when it looks like Tyler is trying to break right through her belly. He's very active!

Dallas (our Dachshund) knows something big is going on. He's very protecting of Monica right now. He won't even let me rub her back or feet. He lays his head over the area I'm trying to rub and growls at me! Monica has to hold him in order for me to massage her. It's cute in a way.

Maggie (our Bulldog/Boxer) couldn't really care less. She doesn't seem to realize that Monica's stomach has grown and still attempts to curl up in her lap.

We're VERY excited! These 45 days are going to crawl along. I know we should cherish the last few weeks we have, but at this point we're very ready.

That's all for now! Feel free to send us an email or give us a call anytime. I'm the worst blogger in the world, so who knows when the next update will come!

All the best!

Heart Beat is loud and clear!

And so begins the second trimester…

We heard the baby's heart beat this morning. It's the most amazing sound ever!! Actually, it sort of sounds like a mini Darth Vador that just finished running a marathon! The heart beat wasn’t coming through strongly enough for us to get a good recording at first, but as we were talking to the Doctor about it the heart beat suddenly became loud and strong. It was as if the baby heard us, turned over, and let us hear the heart beating loud and strong. Click below to hear it!!

Monica hasn't really started showing yet so it's really strange to hear that there's actually something alive in there! Everything is still going right on track. We should be able to find the gender out in about 7-8 weeks.

We have a due date!!!

We just got back from the doctor. We have another sonogram of JB. We're officially 8 weeks and 1 day (give or take 4 days) along. The due dates is...................October 20th!! The doctor said everything looks perfect. We haven't been able to actually hear the heart beat, but we have seen it beating along. It's amazing how much the baby has grown over the last two weeks. Our next appointment isn't for another month. I don't think we'll get another sonogram at that time. I think we get the next one at 20 weeks, which is when we should be able to tell the sex!

Here's the new sonogram. I've pointed out the head, legs, and butt! =-)

Baby Grein's 1st photo!!

Well, we had our first visit with the doctor yesterday. It turns out that we're two weeks behind where we thought we where. So, we're actually only 6 weeks along. The doctor said everything looks PERFECT! We have another appointment in two weeks. We will know the exact due date then.

We were able to see the baby. We're calling it "JB" for now. It looked like a little Jumping Bean. We could see the heart fluttering away. Here's the 1st photo!!
